Thank you for visiting CHESS FOR HEROES. If you want to give your children the best possible start in chess you've come to the right place.
There's a lot more to chess than just learning how the pieces move and playing a game.
Signing them up for a school chess club if they can't already play will not work: these clubs are for children who can already play a reasonable game.
Teaching your children the moves, playing a couple of games and signing them up for their school chess club will also not get them very far.
To get the most out of chess you should approach it in the same way as you'd approach learning a musical instrument, with regular instruction
and practice.
Your children will need to develop chessboard vision, to understand the logic of the game, as well as something of the game's strategy and tactics. As they'll be too young to
teach themselves you'll need to be able to support them at home.
Even if you can't play chess yourself, you can support your children by downloading our CHESS FOR HEROES course and working through it at home with your children.
As well as our CHESS FOR HEROES course we provide private or small group chess tuition and clubs in Twickenham and surrounding areas.
